Badge of Honor: Former NAPD chief retires after more than 33 years

Article by Chris Morris

At a farewell party for retiring New Albany Police Detective Mathie Anderson this week, Capt. Rick Denny recalls his first day on the force.  That day, some 25 years ago, he was assigned to ride with Anderson.  "Everything  happened that day.  That was probably the busiest day I ever had on the department," Denny recalled.  "I remember we pulled into a Burger Chef and he asked me if I wanted something to eat....he said it was probably our last chance.  And he was right."

Anderson knew that nothing brought more joy to a rookie cop than a visit to Burger Chef.  It's no wonder that he'll be missed so much.
