Marlton, NJ

Route 73

Attached are some pictures of the site of the former BC in Marlton, New Jersey. It's located on rt 73, just North of the traffic circle at the intersection of rt.38. I first read about this location on JSF's Burger Chef Page, and I was up that way today so I thought I'd try to get a couple of pics. It's really strange, though, because the building's been torn down for years, but what remains is the foundation and part of the tile floor, after all these years! The first pic is of the site itself, and the second shows the cement block where the sign was. The next two are of the remaining foundation and the tile floor. There were a lot of loose tiles, so I took one as a momento.

I recently put up a page about Marlton Burger Chef at

I read that page a couple of days ago, John, and also signed your Guestbook again. That was an interesting page about an interesting chain of events. Thanks for posting it.

Matawan, NJ

Route 34

There was a Burger Chef that opened in the late 60's --68 I think-- in Matawan, NJ on Rt.34. I worked there from it's opening until it closed down in the early 70's when Burger King , McDonalds and KFC crashed our party - it was owned and operated by two brothers - John and Paul Lambrakis - they had another brother who owned a Burger Chef in Toms River, NJ his name was William - I have a million memories of that time.  I haven't been able to find any info about that Burger Chef in Matawan but it was quite a thriving buisness for a time

Northfield, NJ

Route 9

The building currently sits vacant. It appears to have been remodeled more than once, and its last use until a couple of months ago was a Chinese buffet. A good one, too, I might add. You have to look pretty hard to tell it was a BC, but the picture taken from the back makes it more identifiable. The concrete block for the original sign is still in use, too.

My grandfather owned that when it was burger chef. The good old days when a burger was only a quarter.

Yesterday I drove by the former Burger Chef in Northfield, NJ and I noticed it was being torn down. I went back today and got what I thought were some really neat pictures for you to add to the Reliquary.

Northfieldnj1

The first one is taken from the front. Some of the stores had a covered parking area at the front of the store. It looked like an extension of the roof. I didn't live in this area when this Burger Chef was in operation, but I think that's what this is, the covered parking area.

Northfieldnj2

The second picture shows part of the original white ceramic tile in the kitchen area. That wall would have been behind the broiler on the right, and the fryers on the left.

The third one was taken from across the street. The building probably looks more like a Burger Chef now than it has for years! It won't be around much longer, though, so that's why I wanted to take the pictures today.

I think these will make a nice addition to the Reliquary. I should have some more pics to send of other locations in the near future.  Thanks for maintaining the site.

Oakhurst, NJ

This store was owned by the same franchisees that owned stores in Bridgeton, NJ and Freehold, NJ.  The store in Oakhurst appeared older though because the broiler and other equipment were older models.  I never worked here, but I'd visit.

There is a Burger Chef building in Pennsauken, NJ. I'm pretty sure they plan to tear it down soon. It now is a seafood store. You can still see the metal on the roof that held up the Burger chef sign.
