12464 Natural Bridge Road
I was feeling nostalgic today and fondly recalling meals shared with my parents and sister in the Bridgeton, Mo. Burger Chef. I live in Connecticut now but grew up in Bridgeton. The Bridgeton BC was a later (late 1970's vintage) restaurant.
The actual street address was 12464 Natural Bridge Road, Bridgeton, MO. When I checked, I was delighted to see that the Google Maps "StreetView" car has driven past there and if you check Google Maps you can still see the original building via the StreetView camera. The building now houses a scuba diving shop called "West End Diving" but it was clearly a Burger Chef. Interestingly the drive-thru portico still exists and seemingly now provides covered parking for the owner's truck.
I rooted around your site (and some of the linked sites) and had a blast. Thanks so much. I especially enjoyed listening to the YouTube links to the Monster Fun Records. (Coincidentally posted just today!) I was 12 in 1977 and I remember those!

West Park Mall
(aka The Cape Mall)
Does anyone know what happened to this store? While in college I would sometimes visit Cape G and eat at the Burger Chef in the indoor shopping mall. This was 1983-5. Boy was I surprised the first time I saw a BC. I thought the only one left was in my hometown of Danville, IL. I still love to eat there whenever I'm back home.

The Burger Chef in the Cape Mall I believe shut down around 1986-87, they were using regular white foam cups at the end, I also heard it started to become less and less sanitary as well, I believe it's a Mcdonalds now.

Three employees of the Chesterfield store were used as models in the July, 1977 issue of Burger Chef Scene to introduce the new "stripes" uniform. Here they are:

Telegraph Road
Love your site! I have another Burger Chef location in St Louis MO for you to add to your list. I'm not sure of the exact address but it was located in the Franview Plaza parking lot on Telegraph Road in Mehlville MO. The interesting thing is that the building is still there in the parking lot though empty of any type of business. It typically became a Hardees about 20 years ago but even that has since gone out of business too. The structure still looks the same though. If you'd like for me to take a picture for your site let me know, I drive by it almost every day. Keep up the great site!

Attached are the photos of the old Burger Chef turned Hardees (turned dead zone) in Mehlville MO. I think it's been completely empty for about a decade now.

Nov. '07 UPDATE: drove by this location last weekend and the building has been completely demolished. Sad... a nice little piece of history soon to make way for an Auto Zone or something else equally useless/redundant.

Steve, I'm glad you took these pictures of the old Burger Chef especially since you say they have now demolished it. That's a shame. It is too bad that places like these cannot come back. I wonder if there are any Burger Chefs still in operation anywhere?

US 67 & Pine Street
We had a Burger Chef in Poplar Bluff, MO at US 67 & Pine St, until it was turned into a Hardees. At the time we only had Burger Chef, a Sonic Drive-In and A&W. I remember so well going to Burger Chef every Sunday after Church with my Mom & Grandmother, either getting a kid's meal (sometimes with those records that you had to put a penny on to play) or a Top Chef burger. I also remember they had an awesome Salad Bar! The original building is still there today, and still used as a Hardees, but the interior and exterior have undergone renovations since the Burger Chef days. Too bad Hardees doesn't bring back the old Burger Chef burgers again, like they did a few years ago, but I guess they can't overcharge for them too much like they do those horrible "thickburgers".
