Owned by Systems until bought by Gen Foods then sold to a company out of Ohio called Foodplex. That's when it went down hill.

Benton Harbor, MI

2025 Pipestone Road

There were two stores in Benton Harbor, the old one over by the Whirlpool plant [Riverview Drive], and the new one on the Interstate. I trained at the new one for a couple of weeks when I first transferred to the Midwest. The Manager's name at the time was Bob Martell, who was later promoted to Supervisor.

I know that there was also a Hardee's by the Whirpool plant - that Hardee's is now closed. Can anyone confirm?

Further research has discovered that the two Hardee's that once operated in Benton Harbor are indeed former Burger Chefs. One was at 2025 Pipestone Rd. and still operates as Hardee's.

413 Riverview Drive

I believe that the one out by I-94 is now a Hardee's. Can anyone confirm?

Further research has discovered that the two Hardee's that once operated in Benton Harbor are indeed former Burger Chefs. One was at 413 Riverview, it later became an independent eatery and is now vacant.

Big Rapids, MI

I was a manager for Burger Chef for about 15 years, Odell Ent. I worked at Niles, Coldwater, Big Rapids and Ionia Mi. I also worked at the BC in Kendallville, Ind. for over a year ( '78 - '79). I still live in Big Rapids, Mi. The old Burger Chef building is about to be demolished.

After the Hardee's purchase, the owner of the Big Rapids and Greenville stores converted them to his own name. They were called Rodee's for several years until they closed. For years it was a Chinese restaurant. I believe a Dunkin' Donuts is now on the site.

The Charlotte location could not have been 434 E. Chicago, as there is no Chicago St. in Charlotte. There is a Chicago St. in Coldwater, MI, so that address must have been the Coldwater location. Please correct this.

The Charlotte, MI location could not have been 434 E. Chicago, as there is no Chicago St. in Charlotte. There is a Chicago St. in Coldwater, so that address must have been the Coldwater location. Please correct this.

The Burger Chef in Coldwater, Michigan was open from 1975 to 1981.
