US 1 at Highway 44 (now Business 44)
There was one in New Smyrna Beach, Florida on St Road 44 and Ridgewood. It burned down in the 80s and did not reopen. My brother and sister worked there.

There was a Burger Chef in New Smyrna Beach, FL that opened in 1968. It was the city's first "modern" burger chain restaurant (we'd had A&W, WhatABurger, KFC, etc., but no Burger King, McDonald's or Burger Chef). On the first day of my first job, I was the first person to wait on a customer and collected the first dollar (it was posted on the wall for the rest of the time the store was open [my sister's dollar]). It was owned by Tom Donlon, who moved to the area from Cocoa Beach to open the store. It did very well, but burned to the ground several years later. Much later, Donlon died in a private plane crash. The location was US 1 at Highway 44 (now Business 44).

I began working at the BC in Ocala on Pine St in High School. The place was owned and operated by an entire family of great people. Besides all of my personal memories and experiences, the food and service from the Ocala BCs was always excellent. You can't get a fraction of the quality today that was common practice from that time and era. What an awesome time in my life, God Bless the Doyle Family and all the associated members of the BC community. 1 Super and 1 Golden Brown French Fry please!

5212 Silver Star Road
This location, located at the intersection of Silver Star Rd. and N. Pine Hills Rd, opened in 1966. Marilyn Haberkamp and her son, Tim, celebrated the 40th anniversary of their store's opening on Saturday, June 3, 2006 with door prizes, free refreshments, a DJ and a clown. Their Burger Chef franchise converted to a Hardee's in 1983 and continues to operate as such.

WOW! This site brings back many memories. My family has owned the restaurant on Silver Star Rd. in Orlando since I was nine years old. Would you like some pictures of the store to post on the site. I have just begun to look at all of the details on the site so I will send you another email later. Thanks for the memories.

5702 N. 9th Avenue
The first Buger Chef in Pensacola opened in late 1967 or early 1968 at 5702 N 9th Avenue. By 1977 the location was appearing as 5902 N 9th Avenue (perhaps a street renumbering), but by 1980, it was gone.

1500 Barrancas Avenue
By February 1969, a second Burger Chef had opened in Pensacola at 1400 Barrancas Avenue, which according to an ad was owned by J. Leon Lee. By February of 1972, that location was being listed as 1500 Barrancas Avenue (possibly a street renumbering, or correction of an error), and by 1973 only the N 9th location remained. Below are pictures of 1500 Barrancas Avenue, now a fast-food seafood place known as Slip's of Pensacola (since 1979). It's good, too!

I vividly and fondly remember the frisbee meal packaging from the location in St. Augustine. Thanks for maintaining a page on the chain.
