The location in Sunnyslope became a flower shop.

I can barely remember the Burger Chef as a young kid in Phoenix, AZ in the late sixties/early 1970's on 7th street.  It must have closed in the 1970's too. I only remember that the hamburgers were good. I wish I had remembered that it became that old flower shop. It got completely demolished about two years ago and was rebuilt as a new Taco Bell/Long John Silver's. I became their county health inspector at that point. How cool would it be to go back in time?

According to Barry, on the Carl Hayden HS site (scroll down until you see the Burger Chef sign), there was a Burger Chef here.  See a recent picture of the site here.

This store looks like it may have been an Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips at one time. Note the sign, and the way the front of the building have been modified.

Camelback Rd.

The one on Camelback looked really strange. A new office building was built behind it, but connected, and the Burger Chef building was saved for some reason and used for an office.

I lived in Phoenix from 72-76. Burger Chef was my favorite. I only remember the one on Indian School Rd. I think there was a Taco Bell next to it. And there was a golf course nearby. My brother and I would always crack up about the time a little league coach came through and ordered several dozen funmeals through the drive thru. We were in the dining room and could hear it over the speaker and for some reason thought it was silly someone would order that much food through the drive thru.

Tempe, AZ

University Drive & Myrtle

I worked at a BC in Tempe. It was at the NE corner of University Drive and Myrtle. Just off the ASU campus. It was the first BC to serve Roast Beef Sandwiches

Richard Kempton, 4, of Tempe, AZ , is more interested in finding out what brother Scott, 3, received as his Funburger prize than the one he has already opened...

Tucson, AZ

1101 N. Alvernon Way

There was a Burger Chef in Tucson on the northwest corner of Speedway Blvd. and Alvernon Way. It was a Burger Chef into the mid '70s, and later became a restaurant called Robert's. I took trumpet lessons at a music store across the street, and I remember one of my classmates being excited because after class his dad was going to take him to eat at "the Burger Chief".

This photo appeared in the December 1973 issue of Scene.  It's of a Tuscon restaurant just before it was to undergo remodeling.  There's no address on the photo, but from the angle to the mountains I suspect it's the Alvernon location:

Yuma, AZ

2640 Fourth Avenue

A friend and I worked in a Burger Chef in Yuma, Arizona in the late summer and fall of 1967. It was located on the main drag on the southeastern end of town. One of my fondest memories was opening the place every morning and having to sweep and hose away zillions of crickets.
