Welcome to Burger Chef Locations!
Over the years I've come across numerous forums and threads containing information about particular Burger Chef locations. I thought I'd consolidate this information into a single, well organized site so folks could easily track down information about their favorite Burger Chef.
This list is incomplete. Feel free to comment or email me with any additional information you may have about a particular Burger Chef. Just remember to tell me its location! Pictures, past and present, are also welcome! It's the Burger Chef Reliquary's policy not to steal from other Burger Chef sites, so in cases where other sites may have additional information or photos I'll link to them.
Locations are categorized by state. Click on a state listed in the sidebar to the right. You'll then see an alphabetized list of cities and towns in that state where a Burger Chef was located. Addresses are given, if known, and alphabetized by street name.
I'm constantly updating this site, so if you have more to add, simply leave a comment or email me and I'll incorporate whatever you have into the list. When you're finished, be sure to check out The Burger Chef Reliquary.
Thanks for stopping by,
--R.T.

I remember begging my mom to take me to Burger Chef on Broadway in Alton, IL. I LOVED the funmeal with its neat little compartments for all your food and the cool box to read while you ate. Oh, and the food was YUMMY!! I miss it terribly and was happy to see your site. The building was turned into a Chinese place for a long time. Now it is torn down and a huge McDonalds sits there! Oh, I miss the old days!!

I Remember the Burger Chef at 16th st and 54th ave in St. Petersburg Florida. The building is still there and looks much the same and mostly unchanged from it's Burger Chef days. Its now a Donut shop

THOUGHT YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW THERE WAS A BURGER CHEF LOCATED ON ROUTE 123 (PLEASANT STREET) IN ATTLEBBORO MA, 02703. SPENT MANY NIGHTS THERE WITH MY PARANTS WHEN I WAS YOUNGER. THANKS FOR PRESERVING THE MEMORIES.

Oh man alive! In Tallahassee, Florida, there was a Burger Chef on West Tennessee Street, right across from the FSU dormitories. When it closed (sometime around 1979?) the building became a Yum-Yum Do-Nuts. Then around 1981 they went and tore it down and made it into a dad-gone Burger King, which is still there today. Scumbags. There was also a Burger Chef on Apalachee Parkway in Tallahassee (which also became a Yum-Yum Do-Nuts). That's gone, too. I think there may have been a Burger Chef on Thomasville Road in Tally, but I was too young to remember because we didn't go to that side of town often because that's where the rich people lived

I remember there being a Burger Chef on Rt 108 in Wakefield, Rhode Island. I think it was open up until 1980 or so. Too bad we're stuck with fast food restaurants of today. It's amazing that Burger Chef could fail, yet McDonald's still prospers.

There was a Burger Chef in the Town Plaza Shopping Center in Boyertown, PA. While the building is still standing I don't know who the current occupants are.

My very first job was in one of the only two Burger Chefs in New York State. One located in the city of Buffalo in the Alan-town district (which I worked at as an assistant manager) and one I recall being located in Lockport (I could be wrong about that it was many years ago) Both location had never be renovated and were still the 60's style A frames with the orange and white décor. Our Broiler and Heat would work when they wanted to and the fryer’s would catch on fire from time to time. This location wasn't in the best of neighborhoods and it was quite an education for a suburban kid, when the "ladies of the night" would stop in for a hot cup of coffee and sometimes offer "trades" in exchange for food. This location also gave me my first experience at being robbed. My location was close in 1976 putting an end to my very first job. It was a tough pill to swallow for a 19 year old. But, with all its problems, I still remember Burger Chef with warm memories and was sad to see its demise.

There was a Burger Chef in Pontiac/Auburn Hills off Opdyke Road near S. Boulevard. It was in front of a K-mart. I loved going there (being a Jeff n' all...)plus they had one of the first Star Wars tie-ins, posters if I remember right. Converted to a Hardee's. Haven't been by lately, but I think it may be a bank now.

There was a Burger Chef in the "South Park" area of Beaumont, TX. Around 4640 Martin Luther King Blvd. (in the '70's it wasn't called MLK Blvd.) It was close to Lamar University.
I LUUURVE Burger Chef. & Jeff!

I remember there being a Burger Chef in Westerly, RI on Granite St near the corner of John St.
Burger Chef had the BEST Mushroom & Swiss Burger EVER!!! The sauce that they used was unbelievable.
Then the restaurant turned into Hardee's. The taste changed a bit but was still a great burger. (I didn't know it was the same company until just now when I was searching for Hardee's and found Burger Chef).
Sadly, there are no Hardee's in Southern California but I was amazed to find out that my favorite restaurant out here (Carl's Jr) is owned by the same company. I have no clue why they don't serve the Mushroom & Swiss out here???
Anyway, all of you Burger Chef and Hardee's fans might just want to try Carl's Jr. (I even ate at one in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.)

There was a Burger Chef on South Lindbergh in South County in St Louis in the 70's.

I am 39, I remember the Burger Chef restaurant in Daytona Beach Florida. It was on Hwy A1A (the street that borders the infamous beach). My Grandparents lived in Daytona Beach and always took my Brother and I when we visited, as kids, in the 70's. We LOVED adding all of the extras to our burger at the free bar!

Burger Chef was my favorite place to eat when I was a kid. I know for sure there was one in Cincinnati, OH on Hamilton Ave in Mt. Healthy (not sure of the exact address) that turned into a Hardee's and became several different local restaurants when the Hardee's closed.
There was also a location inside the Northgate Mall in Cincinnati, OH that I believe also turned into a Hardee's for some time and then closed.

There was a Burger Chef on the west side of North Main in Bloomington, IL. I don't remember the address, but it was across the street from Illinois Wesleyan University, and so was probably in the 1300 block.
When I was there in the late 60's and early 70's, the university food service was closed on Sunday nights, and a burger with a pass through the Works Bar was a frequent Sunday meal. Good times!

Here's one for your listing in Michigan:
Royal Oak: 2214 E. 11 Mile Road. Was BC until the big Hardee's buyout--had to have been converted by 1983 or so. They did very little in the way of remodeling--just a touch of paint here and there. Remained open as Hardee's until approx. 1998/1999, then closed to remodel/reconstruct part of the building to reopen as a Tim Hortons (as so many of the Detroit area Hardee's did) by about 2000 or so. I may be off on those later years a little bit, but it's been TH for at least 7 or 8 years, I'd gather. I miss it as a Hardee's, but as a Burger Chef (and Jeff!!) even more, despite the fact that it changed over when I was around 6 years old. Good times.

There was a Burger Chef in Port Huron, Michigan at 2626 Pine Grove Ave. from the early 60's until it was torn down in the early 80's and a new Hardee's was built and that was torn down in the 90's and a new Tim Horton's now occupies the space and is one on the most sucessful in the U S. John Carleton managed the Burger Chef and Hardee's for about 30 years. It was a great cruising spot and hangout in the 60's.

My first job was at a Burger Chef in Crest Hill, Il. in 1966. (near Joliet) I remember going there with my Mom after Christmas shopping for a Hot Cocoa and I saw this really good looking guy making hamburgers and told my mother that I was going to marry him. I was 15 and it turns out my mom grew up with the owner and got me a job there. I still crave the food. We sliced our own onions and peeled our own potatoes for fries. By the way, I did marry the young man, for a few years anyway.

There was a Burger Chef in downtown Rochester IN, at 9th and Monroe Streets, starting in the mid 1970s. It was the first fast food chain location in Rochester other than Dairy Queen. It became a Hardees, unfortunately, and then was closed altogether in the last few years. The building is now gone.

Gentlemen,
I'd like to add 3 BCs to your location list. I worked at one on Western St in Amarillo, TX from Aug 1966 until Jan 1968. There was also a store on NE 8th Street, and another on E Grand. I worked one summer at the one on NE 8th for 2 months because my girlfriend was at a band camp and I wanted to make the time fly. I don't have the address numbers but there were 3 stores in Amarillo in the mid to late 1960's. I don't know when they folded, I moved to Lubbock, TX the fall of 1968. McD drove them all out of business because service was so much faster. The idiots that ran our store would never schedule more than 3 to a shift. I remember a 10¢ hamburger day in August 1966 when Western Plaza mall opened. I worked that Saturday and I bet we sold 4000 hamburgers... People were buying a bag of 10-12 at a time !!
I love the nostalgia you have produced.
Best regards,
David

Great memories! There was a Burger Chef located here in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on Indianapolis Road. I remember going there early 70's after our baseball games. The big thing was collecting the baseball player discs with our Fun Meals. It became a Hardee's, but has been closed for more than a year and is sitting vacant now. Thank you for the memories, Ray
