907 S. Center Street
I believe it closed in the mid 80's. It's been home to a very successful national named Taco place. The guy that owned it had several other locations in Iowa. Pretty sure he had one in Iowa City, Waterloo, and also Des Moines. Food was always good, loved the Top Chef burger! And always the best looking girls worked there! I'm sure the New McDonalds hurt business a lot.

Hi. Like your Burger Chef blog thingie. Thanks for the link to my little Burger Chef page. The Marshalltown location (exact address is 907 S Center St) is now a Taco John's. It was an original Cosmo that was expanded into Burger Chef's 70's style building. The interior still has bits and pieces of its Burger Chef identity, most notably the wood beams in the dining room. There was no need for it to become Hardee's because they're across the street where, of course, they had already taken over Sandy's (though the building there now bears NO resemblance to Sandy's design.)
I've attached three pictures of the Taco John's as it looked in 2002, including one from the back where you can clearly identify the original structure before the remodel.
