PA Route 18
This former Burger Chef site is located on PA Route 18 in Beaver Falls, PA. I took this photo of it earlier today.
Since the late 1980's-early 1990's, this local pizza shop has occupied the building. As you can see, the building currently lacks a store-front; there's a reason why. This Burger Chef almost went into the history books earlier this year! Anyone who's ever driven PA 18 on the College Hill section of Beaver Falls would agree with me in saying that the decades-old s-bend through Geneva College just up the hill from this pizza shop needed replaced. Well, this year PennDOT is finally replacing it with a new roadway. Problem is, the building was in the right-of-way, near where the new alignment would connect with the old one, as a matter of fact. (The old alignment, s-bend and all, will become a private-access road for Geneva.) And the owner of the place, who was making a lot of money serving the local college students even with Papa John's just a few feet away (I actually took the pic from Papa John's parking lot.) and two other pizza places just up the hill at the other end of the new alignment, didn't want to move his business somewhere else, as there was no desirable place near the college for him to relocate. Eventually the owner and PennDOT reached a compromise: he could keep his building and the property, but had to give up about two-thirds of his parking space and actually had to tear down the dining section of the building in order to allow the right-of-way of the new road to come through. The place currently has no seating, just takeout. (Considering that there were no public restrooms to begin with, which is a direct violation of health codes for a restaurant with seating not to have, they could've done without seating anyways.) And despite the front wall still missing even with winter coming soon, the business is still open on a regular basis. As a result of this realignment of PA 18, even though the old Burger Chef sign had been gone for years anyways, the site of the sign is now part of the new roadway. On a side note, even though it will now be too close to the road to comply with state law on how close a building can be to a roadway, it will be protected under a grandfather clause since it is an existing building.

South Jefferson Street
I lived in Athens, AL from 1966-1974 and went to school up until 4th grade there. I remember to this day the Burger Chef and the great tasting hamburgers. Besides a local hamburger eatery named Dubs it was definitely our first choice. The milk shakes were the absolute best and I still compare others fast food shakes to them until this day.

A Burger Chef opened in Akron on October 17, 1977. I don't have an address for it, but it was operated by Robert Spencer.

More specifically, it was located on W. Market somewhere between Maple St. and the Tangier Restaurant, on the south side of Market. I went to school on Maple and worked at Tangier a few blocks away. I'd stop at Burger Chef on my way to work after school, buy a small hamburger, and load it up with everything from the "works bar". I'm not sure what's there now, I no longer live in the area.

That Burger Chef was on the corner of Oakdale and W.Market Street. When they were building it a group of kids used to play at the construction site and my sister was buried alive. She survived. We lived right behind it and that was the coolest we could get lunch for like 50Cents. The good old days.

State Route 125 & Bach-Buxton Road
We had a Burger Chef in Amelia , Ohio (that is about 25 miles east of Cincinnati). It was located at the corner of West Ohio Pike(st. rt. 125) & Bach-Buxton Rds. It became a Hardees and has now been leveled and a Valvoline Quick Lube is being built on the original site.
I remember as a child, my mother, my brother and I would go to Burger Chef to have lunch with my Grandmother who worked as a Mail Carrier. I have fond childhood memories of Burger Chef. It was my favorite fast food resturant when I was young.
I also have an original salt shaker from that restaurant with the original salt in it. It even still has the little sticker that the new shakers have on the top of them. It sits in my curio cabinet as I speak.

It's obviously still in business as a Burger King, and again because of remodels it isn't easy to recognize until you look at the picture taken from the back. I naturally didn't take any pictures inside, but there's a piece of the floor in the kitchen area near the drive thru that still has the original green ceramic tiles!
