Buffalo, NY

My very first job was in one of the only two Burger Chefs in New York State. One located in the city of Buffalo in the Alan-town district (which I worked at as an assistant manager) and one I recall being located in Lockport (I could be wrong about that it was many years ago) Both location had never be renovated and were still the 60's style A frames with the orange and white décor. Our Broiler and Heat would work when they wanted to and the fryer’s would catch on fire from time to time. This location wasn't in the best of neighborhoods and it was quite an education for a suburban kid, when the "ladies of the night" would stop in for a hot cup of coffee and sometimes offer "trades" in exchange for food. This location also gave me my first experience at being robbed. My location was close in 1976 putting an end to my very first job. It was a tough pill to swallow for a 19 year old. But, with all its problems, I still remember Burger Chef with warm memories and was sad to see its demise.

Yes there was a Burger Chef in Lockport. I can remember eating there when I was very very young. It was on the East side of Transit across from what is now a Dunkin Donuts. What memories!!
